European Funding Opportunities: the VII European Union Framework Program (FP7) and Structural Funds

Key missions of the FP7 and Structural Funds are aimed at supporting research for the benefit of SMEs, which constitute a significant portion of the EU economy and at improving innovation infrastructures in the Union. Specific EU programs have been designed for SMEs, and SME participation is a must in the majority of EU funded projects.
There is a significant problem in matching participation needs between SMEs and public research institutions. Part of the problem is convincing SMEs that participation to EU funded projects is economically and strategically viable. FP7 is more generous to SMEs that all other FPs in the past.
We are fully versed in EU funding peculiarities to SMEs and are retained by a number of biotech start-ups to assist in preparing, submitting and reporting on the EU funded programs. We also assist in identifying and selecting partners for mixed SME - Public Research Consortia.
