Magnani Mauro, Ph.D., Prof..
Prof. Magnani is an internationally known authority on Red Blood Cell engineering using red cells as drug-delivery systems and as circulating bioreactors. . He is currently Deputy Provost and Chair of Biochemistry at University of Urbino, Italy .
He has authored over 300 articles published in international refereed scientific journals and is Co-editor of three books:
- Red Blood Cell Aging, Plenum Press, N.Y., 1991, pp. 383.
- The Use of Resealed Erythrocytes as Carriers and Bioreactors, Plenum Press, N.Y., 1992, pp. 361.
- Erythrocyte Engineering for Drug Delivery and Targeting, Landes Bioscience, 2002.
Prof. Magnani is also the scientific founder of Diatheva, an academic spin-off of the University of Urbino dedicated to process development and small scale GMP production of recombinant proteins (E.coli) for Phase I & II clinical testing.

- Drug resistance and drug toxicity;
- Modulation of NF-kB and gene expression;
- Nanomaterials in drug delivery and imaging.
